Stage 1

Licensing

  1. Schedule your exam. Once you show proof that your exam is scheduled, you manager will send you the link to the free course. The course is valid for 30 days. If you do not complete it within 30 days, you may have to pay an additional fee to extend access.

  2. Enroll into the course and complete within 30 days. Reach out to your manager if you do not receive your certificate within the 30 days.

  3. Pass the exam. If you do not pass the exam on your first try, that’s okay. Most don’t. Some people take both the life and health test, but you can complete the life only test. You should be able to reschedule the same day, but if not, give they system 24 hours before you reschedule.

  4. Obtain fingerprints and background check. This step will take the longest anywhere from 2-8 weeks or even longer depending on the Department of Insurance (DOI) in your area. Some states now require you to submit your application (see next step) before obtaining fingerprints. Otherwise, if there is a fingerprinting location in your area that allows walk-ins, we would suggest going there as soon as you receive a “PASS” on your exam results.

  5. Apply for your license. You can do this online through NIPR: https://nipr.com/licensing-center/apply-for-a-license (Yes, Sircon also offers license application services, but their fees are higher. We suggest doing this through NIPR.
